| Ementa | The course deals with the principal drivers of the global environmental change with a focus on human impacts on the Earth’s terrestrial, hydrological and atmospheric environments. The specific subjects of the course include: – A human-influenced geological epoch – the Anthropocene – Global biogeochemical cycles – Amazonia ecosystems – Polar ecosystems – Black carbon and marine plastics – Freshwater security – Biodiversity and landscape change – Geoengineering By the end of the course students will be capable of (1) critically evaluating and analysing environmental change research, (2) understanding global biogeochemical cycles, (3) understanding impact of humans on biodiversity as well as (4) publicly engaging with complex environmental issues. |
